  1. Put on some music you really like and that makes you want to move.

First of all, if you're like most kids, you have too much stuff in there. This was my stepdaughter's problem too. It's impossible to keep clean because there's not a home for everything. Ask your parents to get you a few small plastic tubs to use for storage. Put things in there that you want to keep but you don't use regularly. Special things, souvenirs, mementos, pictures, etc....

Then go through your room and see how much you can throw away. Old school papers, etc...  Ask yourself, "Do I really need this?" It'll get easier and more fun the more you do it.

Make sure you have enough hangers to hang up all your clothes nicely. Hangers are cheap at Wal-Mart, Target, etc., if you need more. Do you have enough drawer space to put things away too? Do you have a hamper for dirty clothes and a place to put all your shoes?

The less you have in your room, the easier it is to keep clean and the more energy you'll have. Maybe, if you approach your mom nicely and calmly, and ask her to give you some guidance and help, she can give you a few pointers. Parents often say, "Go clean your room" without really telling kids how and what they expect.

Since we streamlined my stepdaughter's room, it's so much cleaner and easier for her to keep clean. She's less stressed and we don't have to yell at her any more either. Good luck!
