The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 coach has continued with his opinion on his former teammate and reiterated that the striker must show his better side by improving even further.
According to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 remains one of the most talented players in England and the only obstacle in his path to success is his own self.
Skippering the National side against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/San-Marino-c2998, the Three Lions star put in an impressive shift and managed to overcome most of the obstacles directed at him, even managing to score a brace in the process.
His performances for United and the 1966 World Cup winners have been sensational this term but for the most part, Rooney is unlikely to maintain his gung-ho style approach to things much longer.
While his talent remains undoubted, with age his stamina and work rate will be affected, although he is currently in his prime and needs as much game time to shine as possible.
Gary Neville has backed this claim and urged the front-man to show his best side before time finally started taking a toll on his sublime skills.
Speaking to reporters, the United legend claimed that the player was arguably at his best when he relied on raw instinct and desire on the field but needs to master his performances so that he can end his playing days on a high.
“He is a wonderful player. Rooney is best when he is like the street kid, the kid who just fights for every ball, loves playing football and wants to take every free kick, every throw-in, tackles, heads and fights with a passion to win. We need to see Rooney
improve and Rooney needs to see himself improve. In the last few weeks, coming back from that injury, I have seen a lean, fit, hungry Rooney."
He also added that United's other stars could also have a major influence on his career, as the increased competition will keep the pressure on the attacker.
“He has got people like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-Welbeck-c10233 and other huge challenges around him just to retain his position at United but he looks like he is really up for it,” added Neville.
