Manchester United’s striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 has admitted that he isn’t very happy with the way he played against Aston Villa and wants to improve on his performance in the coming weeks.
United’s boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson criticised the striker after the game and insisted that he was a little to ‘casual’ in the game and believed that had the player paid more attention, he could have scored a couple more goals.
Rooney did manage to find the back of the net on two occasions, but despite that fact, it did appear like the forward was taking things a little too lightly.
When talking about the game, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international is quoted to have said: "It was nice to score two goals but I didn't think my performance was good enough," Rooney told reporters."The rest of my play wasn't great. I am disappointed with that and I
will be working hard to put it right."
Following the game, Rooney is now sitting on thirty one goals, which is just three goals short of what his previous best was. The forward scored thirty four goals two seasons ago and is looking to overcome that mark this time around.
At the same time, Rooney just needs to score one more goal, to equal the number of goals that George Best scored as a United player.
The forward is quite happy with the record that he has set at the club and hopes to make it even better in the future.
"It would be great to equal that record and hopefully surpass it," said Rooney.
"I would be proud of that achievement but I can't really look at it just at the minute.
"If it happens then great but it's the points that are important at this time of the year and if I can score the goals that get those points then I'll be pleased."
With a number of United players getting injured all season long, Rooney has been pivotal to the team and his goal scoring abilities have helped the team significantly in the league.
Should he continue to do so, he could easily help his side lift the Premier League crown tat the end of the season.
