http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 was the spearhead up-front, as the Red Devils capped off a long running tour that started in July.
Tasked with beating the German giants, United were more than up to the occasion, sealing the win with superb comeback, in which the striker played an influential role. A brace from a penalty as well as a free-kick ensured that Rooney reigned supreme on the night, but what caught the eye of the supporters was the way he linked up with those around him.
Shinji Kagawa and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-Cleverley-c35218 both looked right at home with the Three Lions’ star, with a winner being a sublime example of how the trio fared.
Rooney’s flick header was equalled by Kagawa’s first touch and then the Japanese International went right across the keeper with a swing of his right foot, hereby securing victory for the Manchester giants.
After struggling for consistency in midfield, United have seemingly ended that conundrum this summer and will now turn their attention to domestic affairs.
Wayne Rooney, though, is still capitulated by their display in Hannover and claims that he will benefit from the partnership he has struck up with Cleverley and Kagawa.
"It was alright. Obviously it’s nice to score but the most important thing is the 90 minutes and the game, so that was good for me. I think it was OK, at times we played some great football and sometimes we were a bit sloppy, but I think that’s always going to happen in pre-season games.”
"I played with Kagawa and Tom Cleverley in there as well and the three of us linked up really well I thought, at times anyway. He [Cleverley] was a big miss for us last season. Obviously now with the Olympics he's up to speed, he's got his fitness and he will be an important player for us this season,” he said.
Manchester United start their upcoming campaign with a tricky away trip to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 and will be looking to secure three points, as they try to claim the Premier League trophy for themselves.
