Rooney’s clashes with Ferguson, five probable replacements for striker (Part 2)
Manchester United striker, Wayne had made it clear that there is not room for both him and his manager at the club and that he would keenly ponder other choices as he had to get his career back on track.
Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid were leading the race to in order to land Manchester United’s striker but Manchester United local rivals Manchester City were also likely to make an audacious move in winter transfer window.
Moreover, there were already rumours in the air that Manchester United’s fierce rivals and current English Premier League title holders, Chelsea, were also in a race to sign the white monster. Along with that, Arsene Wenger, manager of Arsenal, had also
shown his interest in signing Wayne Rooney.
The whole world was left breathless as Manchester United’s legendary manager Sir Alex let it out and admitted that his talismanic striker Wayne Rooney, who is known for his passion, love and commitment to the club, he once vowed to never leave, had called
his time at Manchester United.
With Rooney’s present deal due to expire in May 2012, Manchester United Chief Executive had been unsuccessful to sit down and negotiate an extension. In addition to that, Rooney’s poor performances in recent games, failing to start for Manchester United
and rant to the press that he was not injured when Sir Alex said he was, gave him more than enough reason to call it quits at Old Trafford.
Wayne has been in the poorest form of his career this season as his dilemmas off the pitch have affected his on-field life. Rooney has not scored from open play since the first leg of the European Cup quarter-final in March and has scored just once this
season, from the penalty spot.
Sir Alex Ferguson publically had admitted that Wayne Rooney was to leave Manchester United. So, while Manchester United community remained stunned, other clubs were l*****g their lips at the possibility of having the ‘White Pele’ in their squads come next
season or even earlier.
On the other hand, English giants, Manchester United and their legendary manager Sir Alex would need to look at the prospect of a Wayne-less Manchester United.
But like Ferguson always said, there is no player in the World that is bigger than the club.
But then again, it's not too late, Manchester may still persuade Wayne Rooney to stay at Old Trafford but that seemed unlikely to happen.
English giants, Manchester United have lacked the X-factor, since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez. Clubs are no more afraid and many have grown in confidence about their chances against Manchester United.
So taking this into consideration, Manchester needed a player with great ability and an identifiable face in football.
Usually, Manchester United would embrace a young unknown player, but with the quality of their fierce rival Chelsea, the impressive performance of their local rival Manchester City and the surprising spark of Arsene Wenger’s team, it is essential for the
Red Devils to improve.
All in all, the reasons behind this entire Rooney-Ferguson scenario may have been temporary, but selling the World’s most talented striker at a high price would have helped both Rooney and Manchester United to gain from this disastrous spell at Old Trafford.
