Roosters... and the salary cap!?

Question

tell me how can the roosters be under the salery cap......?

when they have the likes of..... mason, omealy, toupo, fitzgibbon, myles, minichello, anasta..... who all command top dollar!i hope the NRL autids them soon, so all can be exposed how they rort the system!

Oh yea, and dont forget about the rest of the 25-30 man squad they have to fit under the salary cap + coaching staff!

um if we were cheating it we wouldn't have lost wing  last year, lose toupo and shillington next year and 2 of those players we signed weren't in super form when we got them(anasta and myles) and we've had mini and fitsy(they are loyal so they aren't gettin top dollar and when we resigned them we didn't pay that much cuz fitsy wasn't in great form and was starting to age and mini had injury problems) plus we had toupo as a junior.......

Yep - how could they afford Greg Inglis, Billy Slater, Israel Folau,  Cooper Cronk,  Cameron Smith , Michael Crocker, Dallas Johnson - ohh thats a different team.

They are loseing a few good players and they let harrison go to sign mason. They also get alot of player signed long term when they are young. I don't think you can ask why the roosters more than any other team in the nrl.

As others have said......no let's put this more succinctly, you are a thoughtless, jealous fool with too much time on your hands. Please do some actual research before sledging a club that gets audited every year. 4 teams this year have had fines under the salary cap breach laws, and the Roosters are NOT one of them.

I agree with you champ. I would say that they put down that they are paying them the bare minimum and then buy them investments such as real estate or shares so it wont be on the books.

the bronco's have the biggest devlopment scheme for new talent

in the nrl and as such most of their stars are devloped over time at their own cost. they have loyaltiy to the club and stay there on less money. on the rare occasion they buy from outside all sydney jumps up and down but if all clubs where aduited you would find brisbane would supply more players than any other club.

1 Mason took a pay cut to come to the Roosters

2 Toupo was signed at a young age, he is leaving next year for Cronulla, partially because the Roosters cannot afford him any longer.

3 Myles, isnt  a "star" of the game so his earnings are not nearly as high as Masons.

4 The Roosters lost the likes of Adrian Morely,Luke Ricketson,Ryan Cross,Joel Monaghan,Mick Crocker,Craig Wing & Brett Finch in recent years, so there was alot of cash to throw around especially after that waste of space Wing left.

5 Players are free to earn as much money as they like from NON club sponsors, now if im a company and i want a footy player to be seen to endorse me am i going to pick a Rabbitohs player or a Roosters player?

The Roosters player of course, he will be far more high profile as he is a part of a successful team not from a team of "battlers" in Armani :)

Some players are willing to sacrifice potential earnings in the short term to play for a "glamour" club.

To the guy above, you think when they audit they dont take personal assets into consideration? like oh Amos youre only on $75 000 how can you afford a 2.3 million dollar apartment... youre a hater bc the roosters rule.

Let me guess Ian Schubert is playing favourites with the Roosters because he played for us? Or is it because his son Adam played for us too?

I am not sure how easts keep under the cap. They do have a few good players and if they win the comp they will come under scrutiny like what happended to canterbury a few years ago.  

More importantly to a lot of people is how do melbourne and brisbane keep under the cap?  They are the favs of nrl and fox and are given more privileges than any other teams.  Move melbourne to the NSW Central Coast, where they are needed, and get another brisbane team to even it out.

Im not sure.. obviously some players arent getting paid what is made out to be.. I also read someone elses comment about the Storm, Cronk, Johnson & Folau arent getting paid top dollar... thats why Folau is going to Brisbane next season coz he is a money hungry player with no loyalty to the club that got him on his feet.. oh well
