  1. Most people hear the word "Root Canal" and think of pain. This procedure has come a very long way and most root canal treatments are done quickly and painlessly. If you feel pain during the procedure, tell the doctor and you will be given more anesthetic. Nitrous does help some people, but many doctors don't have it. You may have some soreness after wards, but a few Advil usually can handle that.

After you have the root canal completed, you will need a final restoration placed on the tooth to support it and prevent it from breaking.Hope that was helpful!

  2. it not that bad the worst part is when the num the pain

  3. I'm rather phobic when it comes to the dentist, and honestly I thought my root canal was less traumatic than a regular filling.  Less drilling! The noise and feel of the drill really get me.  I also had a wonder dental assistant who suggested nitrous for me, and I HIGHLY recommend it!

It is a little painful afterward but since I had a toothache before the root canal I thought things were improved.

  4. dont worry about it, today theres no pain during the oppperation with laughing gas and all that other pain medications they use

  5. I've had.... 5 done.   It's not bad at all... If you feel ANYTHING let the dentist know. They will then inject you with more numbing medicine.

I'm sure i have more to come, because i just have teeth that love to decay for no reason at all?

Some do it by hand, others have the instrument to do it faster. Either way, it isnt bad... You feel the pressure, but not really any pain.. and even afterwards, i was sore... but not too bad.

Don't worry.... take it from me.. i have sat for hours in those chairs for root canals.

  6. It is not that bad.  I am a dental assistant in the state of TX.  I have had a root canal.  You will be numb and once the injection is done you should not feel anything.  Explain to your Dentist and the assistant that your scared and they should help you through this. If it an upper tooth your tongue and cheek will not be fat feeling.  I promise you will be fine and after it is over you will think "that was not so bad"  let me know you have any other ?

  7. YOU GET A SHOT SO YOU FEEL NOTHING.THE DENTIST DRILLS AND TAKES OUT THE NERVE AND FILLS THE SPACE WITH  FILLER. THEN A TEMPORARY DRESSING GOES OVER THIS

THE ABOVE IS A QUICK OVERVIEW OF A COMPLEX PROCEDURE

  8. The dentist will either numb your mouth or you can choose, gas to relax you. They put a rubber dam in your mouth to prevent debri from going down your throat, It's uncomfortable holding your mouth open for so long but I didn't have any pain from the work done.  The 1st step is drilling to clean out the roots, then they put meds in to prevent infection. then they pack the roots and put a temp cap. then 2-3 weeks later your get a crown.
