  1. My neighbor just recently had one done and yes the pain is normal and should subside after a few hours or days. You can try taking some painkillers also which might help relive some of the pain .

  2. A little bit of pain is normal, maybe take some meds. If it doesn't start to clear up in a couple of days, I would suggest going back if there are some signs of infefction... Extreme redness, white puss, stinking, extreme sensitivity.

  3. when i got mine done i was in pain when the meds wore off the first night, but i took Tylenol 3 and it took most of the pain away. However, tomorrow it should start feeling better.

  4. Take a pain killer!  Didn't the dentist give you anything?

Avoid aspirin.  Take Tylenol or Ibuprofen.  The pain should stop in 12 to 24 hours on its own.

  5. Your dentist should have prescribed something for you after the procedure..I'd ask why he didn't...Tylanol 3 or even better percocet...

Go back tommorrow, and complain about the pain..

Get yourself a bottle of Perc's... Pain will soon be long forgotten..

If you complain enough about pain and point out his incompitance,,You may get a Big bottle.......

    Good luck..

  6. O yeah I remember when I got a root canal. The doctor numbed my mouth so I couldn't feel myself biting on my lip. So, I kept amusing myself by biting down on my lips real hard. Once the anethesia wore off, man was I screwed! O the pain. And my sister who likes to torture me squirted hot sauce in my eye!

  7. Not unless it's from where they gave you a shot

  8. Yes it is normal, it should feel better in a couple days. If it's so bad your unable to sleep call your dentist, there could be a canel he was unable to see and missed.Hope you feel better soon.

  9. It is normal.  Were you on antibiotics?  If not, get some as there is frequently infection with this.  Sometimes the pain can last a few weeks (one of mine did). I had another done recently - took some Tylenol 3's for a few days, now all is well!  Stay away from hot/cold beverages, and sugary foods, and try not to chew on it for a day or so.  Good Luck!

  10. I didn't get anything for the pain after my root canal either,it sucks. I finally called him 3 days later and demanded he give me something for the pain.
