Question:

Root canals, I have to see a specialist?

My dentist informed me I have "too long of roots" for him to deal with, so he sent me to a specialist to have 3 root canals done. My insurance covers some, but I have to pay $300 up front per tooth for them to be done. Plus, I'm assuming I'll need crowns. I have way too many bills each month, and I know I should take better care of my teeth. But what should I do? I need them fixed before they get infected/abscessed, but I cannot afford it. Are there any alternatives?

  1. Look into purchasing a discount plan that can save you money on your out-of-pocket expenses.  You can then work out a payment plan with the specialist for the balance you will owe.

My discount plan is currently through www.DentalDiscountsPlus.com.  I have been with them for about 2 years now and will never go back to traditional dental insurance.

    Good luck.

  2. I know a lot of dentist have interest free financing programs available now...maybe yo can check them out...Also you might be able to have a temporary crown for now until you can afford permanent.

  3. Ask the specialist if you can work out a payment program, so you can pay it over time.
