If you live in a highrise apartment building or condo, do you think it's a good idea to have a very long rope so that you can rapel down from your balcony, in the event of a large fire?

  1. maybe for you not for me. i aint afraid of dying, although i probably would shoot myself in the head if the flames where reaching me wouldn't be as agonizing. i'm crippled, don't figger i could rappel down. actually don't figger most folks are fit enough to do more than 1 or 2 floors, so may as well just jump. i heard tell you can leap 4 stories with little more than a broken bone, so i'm covered. got a landing 2 stories below me, then only 1 more to the street.

  2. Besides a very long rope, you'll need the hardware to go with it to rappel (i.e. caribeaner, friction device, etc. etc)

  3. Wouldn't do it for me.

I Would only need to look down from the window

and I'd Faint. I hate Heights!

  4. How high? I have a 3 story metal folding/rolled up ladder that hooks onto the window and you just toss it over and climb down. Cost me around a hundred dollars. The piece of mind is worth he cost.

  5. Ver smart idea....wwish more people would think ahead like you..HUGS!!
