Roper Dryer model# REX4635EW1 doesn't heat up?

Dryer does everything except heat up. I did the continuity check on the the thermal cutoff, hi limit thermostat , operating thermostat, and thermal fuse. They were all good. I did the ohm check on the heater element and was good but the metal plate between the coils looks burned. There are no burnt wires. Everything is getting power. What am i missing to check?

  1. Check the connection in the outlet. I had the same problem and I couldnt figure it out. I called a repairmen and he replaed the 220v outlet.Been working grat now over 3 years.

  2. did you disconnect the wires  before you did your continuity check? It sure sounds like the thermal fuse to me i replaced one on my grandmother roper last year ,if it was the element the element wire would be burned in too somewhere. if you didn`t disconnect the wires ,you could be reading back through the circuit instead of through the fuse and thermostats.

if it was the timer the drum wouldn`t turn,

  3. Some very good ideas here (including the input power)

Also check your circuit breakers.  This should be two breakers ganged together, but maybe they aren't ganged and only one of them is tripped.
