Stoke City midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rory-Delap-c31779 has revealed he believes the fact that Bolton Wanderers have been relegated proves how competitive the English Premier League has become in recent seasons.
Bolton Wanderers under manager Owen Coyle failed to remain in the top flight this season, bringing an end to their eleven years in the English Premier League. It was in their clash against Stoke City that Bolton Wanderers drew 2-2 and dropped to the Championship.
Their chances of remaining in the top flight towards the end of the season were slim. On the last fixture day, Bolton Wanderers required a victory over Swansea City and at the same time a defeat for Queens Park Rangers against league winners Manchester City.
While Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Davies-c20716 scoring to give them hope.
Unfortunately for them Swansea City equalised towards the end and were demoted to the Championship. Delap admitted that Bolton Wanderers were a decent side, who would now be playing Championship football because they were unable to stay up.
Delap said in an interview:
“Bolton have been in it for a long time, and this just shows that every year you have to keep working harder and harder. A team like Bolton have some great quality in the side and a good manager.”
Delap praised the team and the manager Owen Coyle, who is known to get the best out of young and inexperienced players. It was under Coyle that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 scored 8 goals in 12 appearances while on loan to Bolton Wanderers.
The Stoke City midfielder admitted his side had a tough time against Bolton Wanderers but had managed to make a comeback just in time to hold the struggling side to a stalemate.
He revealed:
“It was a tremendous effort for us to get back in the game. Their first goal was a rebounded clearance and their second was an obvious cross, but that happens and you have to deal with it.”
