Rory MacDonald is annoyed with UFC’s random drug testing – UFC News
Rory MacDonald was recently tested for drugs, and the UFC fighter reveals that he feels annoyed with the process. MacDonald, who stands with 13 wins and 1 loss in MMA, and 4 wins and 1 loss in the UFC, will be facing B.J. Penn next month at UFC on Fox 5.
The welterweight contender spoke about the process on ‘Training Day: Inside Tristar Gym Live’.
When asked about drug testing, MacDonald said, “It already started. My first test was last week. ... I got a random knock on the door. They did the test. So from here to the fight, it's just random testing.”
MacDonald will face Penn on December 8 at the KeyArena in Seattle. The fight will be televised live on Fuel TV.
“It's pretty annoying,” said MacDonald when asked about the process. “I don't like getting woken up in the morning. It threw my routine off. I didn't expect it. I forget about it, to tell you the truth. It was a bit annoying that day, but if it only happens
a few times, a couple times, I can deal with it.”
The VADA will be submitting the results of these tests to the Washington Professional Athletics Program, the Association of Boxing Commissions and the UFC. VADA is an unofficial program organiser for MMA fighters, but at least it is ensuring MMA fights do
not happen with fighters juiced up.
MacDonald further asserted that he is a bit tired of waiting to fight. He was booked to fight Penn in September but due to an injury, he was forced to back out. According to him, he is ready to face his opponent anytime but since the bout is still too far,
he is killing time by training.
MacDonald and B.J. Penn, both are known among the best fighters in the organisation. They might not be the most elite fighters but they still have managed to keep their names in the list of top contenders. MacDonald is hoping a win against Penn to move on
in his career and probably score a title shot. If he does, he would be one of the lucky ones out there, as most fighters spend years to get one.
