Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson will tee off at this year’s Barclays Singapore Open
Three of the big guns in the world of golf, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson, will make the Barclays Singapore Open field proud, with their participation in the event this year.
The abovementioned players will join some of the other good players, at the Sentosa Golf Club, in Singapore, from November 8 to 11, 2012.
“I am delighted that the 2012 Barclays Singapore Open will once again welcome the world’s best golfers. Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson are some of the most sought after players in the game, and their presence will further enhance one of the
world’s premier tournaments,” said Quek Suan Kiat, Country Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Barclays Bank PLC, Singapore.
Scott is among the hottest players in the field because of his strong track record in the tournament. He registered victories in 2005, 2006 and 2010, along with third-place finishes in 2007 and 2009.
Therefore, he has always been a star appearance in the tournament that joined the European Tour calendar in 2009.
Mickelson appeared in each of the last five editions of the Barclays Singapore Opens and recorded his best finish in 2008, when he took the ninth spot on the leaderboard.
This year, he is confident to outshine his opponents at the Sentosa’s famous Serapong Course, because of his recent form on the US circuit.
He tied for the fourth position at the Deutsche Bank Championship two weeks ago and followed that with another strong performance at the BMW Championship, where he shared the second position.
In the meantime, no one can forget the brilliance shown by the world number one, Rory McIlroy, during the 2012 golf season so far.
The Northern Irishman did not win on the European Tour so far this year. However, he did stun his opponents on many occasions on the PGA Tour.
He recorded four victories, including a win in the PGA Championship in August. Moreover, he won each of the last two tournaments that were held in the US PGA Tour Playoffs.
Therefore, his addition in the event in Singapore will force a huge number of golf fans to move to the course and watch the tournament live.
