Rory McIlroy: a new challenge in Tiger’s way
Undoubtedly Tiger Woods is the best in the world of golf. Of course there have been some ups and downs in his life but he has always managed to come out on the top.
Woods has occupied the number one spot in the official golf ranking for quite some time and now he is currently on the number 3 spot.
Tiger Woods has done it all and achieved it all. Now the next thing on his to-do list is to break the record of the golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Nicklaus still has the record of the most major titles in the world. In his career, he bagged eighteen major titles.
Till now Tiger Woods has been able to win 14 major titles. He is four short of the golf legend, Nicklaus. Tiger Woods was looking to bag his 15th major titles this weekend at the U.S. PGA Championship but failed to do so and the tournament was
won by the young Irish golfer, Rory McIlroy.
It was a very exciting event filled with drama as the biggest names in the world of golf went head to head for the Championship. Rory McIlroy had a magnificent start, as he finished the first round with five-under.
His second round did not go according to plan but on the third day, he went to the top and never looked back.
“I feel these days when I give myself a chance to win one of these big tournaments, I can draw on the memories of Augusta, of Congressional, and now of today,” he said on Sunday at Kiawah. “And know what I did out there, and know what to do again”.
This win made him the number one in the official golf ranking. The next major title is not for another eight months and is going to be very interesting as the best in the world collide to prove themselves as the best in the world.
Now the two players, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are sure that they are going to be paired next week as the FedEx Cup playoffs tee off with the Barclays.
Woods has never faced a player with so much potential. Both the players have played 12 tournaments this year and in these tournaments McIlroy finished above Woods seven times.
