Rory McIlroy acts for a charity TV commercial ahead of the Wells Fargo Championship on PGA Tour
The prodigal Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy is now returning to mainstream golf with the latest event on the PGA Tour, the Wells Fargo Championship this week and will be hoping to clinch the world number one spot yet again.
McIlroy decided to go on an extended break following his sloppy finish at the Masters this year where he finished for a disappointing joint 40th alongside Tiger Woods.
He has been travelling with his girlfriend, Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, following her matches in Germany and also took her to his home in Holywood, Ireland.
McIlroy is now all set to pitch for yet another battle on the PGA amid a high-profile field on his hands.
The young Irishman said that he considers golf a part of his life and not the life itself.
He insists that there is more in life than just golf.
He said, "For me, there's more to life than just golf. I don't know if people are surprised to hear that, but I have a lot going on in my life than just golf”.
True to his words, McIlroy definitely has a more humane side of him which remains more or less hidden from the rest of the world.
He arrived at the venue of the Wells Fargo Championship and participated in a TV commercial for the PGA Tour’s St. Jude's Children Hospital.
Although, the former world number one is not playing in the St. Jude's Children Hospital Classic, he is still participating in the charity bid which will benefit the hospital.
The advertisement includes Shaun White, a two-time Olympic gold medallist in snowboarding and a seven-year-old child is currently under treatment for cancer.
McIlroy said, "If I'm going to do anything like that, I want it to be with kids, because I feel like I can relate to them a little bit better than anything else. I know if I was going through an illness like what Dawson has, I don't know if I would be as
bright as and as happy and as cheery as he is. It's definitely inspiring to see".
The 2011 US Open winner will be turning 23 this Friday and is hoping to get back in his groove as soon as possible in order to defend his title in June this year.
