Rory McIlroy blames his former manager Chubby Chandler for his loss in the Masters

US Open champ Rory McIlroy has finally decided to shed some light into the Masters fiasco and has now solely blamed his former manager Chubby Chandler for the disaster where he threw away a four shot lead going into the final round to finish for a joint
15th. The 22-year-old Irishman believes that he should have made his own decisions on that devastating Sunday and have relied on his own talent than listen to any of the friends or even his manager on that morning.
“It might have set the wheels in motion in some way," McIlroy said, according to the website Irish Golf Desk. "I was getting advice from left, right and centre after the Masters. From people I was close to and from people that just wanted to offer some sort
of help."
McIlroy although did not mention Chandler’s name in his comments or decided to out rightly accuse him of the tragedy, he has pointed fingers towards the direction of his former manager in more than one ways. McIlroy decided to leave Chandler and his infamous
International Sports Management (ISM) right before he was boarding a plane for the PGA Grand Slam in Bermuda, which stunned the manager. The Irishman moved over to Dublin based Horizon Sports Management, a decision which was considerably influenced by his
friend Graeme McDowell.
“Sometimes I felt I let people make decisions for me instead of taking my career into my own hands and deciding this is what I want to do, this is where I want to go. That day at the Masters helped me do that," he added.
McIlroy was leading the tournament at the coveted Augusta National, also considered as the “Makkah” of golf, when he fell for a high of 80 in the final round. He admitted later that he even cried over his disastrous loss.
The loss itself brought a new realization for the young golfer and from there onwards, he made string of decisions solely on his own. He hired putting guru Dave Stockton’s help to sort out his putting vows and started off his intimate relationship with the
Tennis super star Caroline Wozniacki, something which Chandler did not approve off. Apparently, McIlroy’s decision to take control of his own fate resulted in stunning results as he walked over to post a historic win at the US Open in June.
