It has been forecasted that the heavy rain, thunder storm, lightening and strong winds are expected during the days of the major. These unfriendly conditions are going to be a real challenge for the players.
The event is going to be featuring many big names of the game. The list of players also includes the world’s number 3 in the official golf ranking, Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy is going to be one of the players under the spotlight for this event. McIlroy took the golfing world by storm.
He bagged many trophies and even made the record of being the youngest player to bag a major. All that being said he has not been performing well in the past few tournaments.
Now, he is looking for a chance to bounce back. This championship is a perfect opportunity for the 23-year-old. This Thursday, he will be looking to bounce back and answer his critics once and for all.
Before the event tees off, McIlroy seemed very confident about his game. It is a long and difficult course and the weather is going to be unfriendly as well. Nonetheless, the youngster is accepting the challenge head-on.
In an interview he said, “The longer the better and if it’s wet this week I really don’t mind at all. Everyone has a chance. But players who hit it long and hit it in the fairway have a great chance”.
“Even though this is a very long golf course, if the wind and the rain comes, it’s going to be more of a mental challenge than a physical challenge,” McIlroy added.
