Rory McIlroy finally makes it to the top!
Irish golfer Rory McIlroy has finally triumphed in clinching the top seed position.
At the Honda Classic, in Florida, the 22-year-old has finally succeeded in replacing Luke Donald from the first spot.
Rory entered the golf course with the intent of becoming the No. 1 and by carding an eight-under-par 62 he was able to achieve his highly aimed and eyed objective.
At the end of the game’s play McIlroy led the race with a total score of -12.
Second in position, with just two shots behind is the legendary golfer Tiger Woods, who has finally been able to reinstate his reputation as a heartthrob golfer again.
Rory was congratulated on the remarkable achievement by his fellow golfers also.
"He deserves it. I think he's the best player on the planet right now," said fellow Northern Irishman McDowell.
He added, "He's the best player I've ever seen tee-to-green, period. I didn't have a chance to play with Tiger early-to-mid-2000's when Tiger was the man, but Rory McIlroy is the best player I've ever seen".
For some time McIlroy’s putting capability was coming under question, but his ability to putt effectively came to be his saviour.
When on the front nine, the young golfer was able to save pars from 13, 8 and 12 feet. This further helped him in scoring well on the spots he wanted to.
His ability of making excellent putts was also appreciated by McDowell when he said, "As soon as he learned how to putt, he was going to be a dominating force, and you're starting to see that now".
However, he also added that, with Tiger aiming for a comeback, Rory’s dream of continuing his winning streak will not turn into a reality.
Even other golfers participating in the event understand this and intend to witness a match between these two star golfers.
Woods, after a long period of dormancy from golf, is looking forward to a return and his eagle and birdie shots are lessening his distance from once again grabbing his fifth Green Jacket.
On the other hand, experts believe that McIlroy, within a very short span of time, has been able to achieve much, but in order to continue his presence on the No. 1, he will have to invest more effort and determination.
