Rory McIlroy getting ready for the WGC-Bridgestone
Recently the world number 3, Rory McIlroy has been struggling with his game and has not been able to deliver. In the past few months, he has missed many cuts.
Many are of the view that the reason for his lack of concentration towards the game is his new girl friend, the tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
Now the young Irish professional golfer will be looking to bounce back at the WGC-Bridgestone and give an answer to his critics once and for all.
The venue for this prestigious event is the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, USA. The four-day event is going to tee off on the 2nd of August and is going to end on the 5th of August.
For some extra practice McIlroy came to Akron a bit early, so that he could get an early start on the practice. Most players had planned to wait till Tuesday for practice.
On the other hand, McIlroy started his practice on Monday. Many foreign players and amateurs were alongside McIlroy practicing.
McIlroy is not able to find his form. He has missed 3 of the last 5 cuts. This is a hard time for the 23-year-old. He is trying to play as much golf as he can, so that he may be ready for the future challenges.
The youngster has recognized the problem and is keen to fix it. He believes that all he requires is a bit of practice and he will be back to his trophy winning form.
In an interview he said, “I haven’t played great but I’m working on some really good things and I’ve seen some good signs in practice. It’s about taking it from practice onto the course, that’s the difficult part. The more I play and the most holes I get
and the more tournaments I play in, hopefully it’ll just keep coming along”.
McIlroy is making himself familiar with the course. He seems happy with the way things are going.
He also commented about the course, “It’s good, pretty soft. As soft as I’ve ever seen it, but obviously, it’ll get a little firmer once there’s not as much rain”.
