Rory McIlroy in high spirits after making changes to swing
Rory McIlroy has planned to win some major tournaments this year, starting from the Masters in April, as he has made slight changes to his swing.
The 22-year-old Northern Irish professional trained hard with his coach Michael Bannon. They both worked hard and McIlroy successfully implemented some changes to his swing.
"I still feel it's going to take a couple more weeks to fully click in," McIlroy said. "But it's definitely on the right track".
This year will be the busiest for McIlroy. He has planned to be at a maximum numbers of tournaments throughout the year and give his best shot.
He recently arrived in Arizona to play the mega prize event of the Accenture Match Play Championship, scheduled from February 22 to 26, 2012.
Last year he recorded amazing finishes and scores. He was the runner-up of the Race to Dubai title, earning €4,002,168 at the European Tour.
He also won the US Open, another major, with a tremendous eight-stroke lead in June 2011. Later, he was also able to win the title of the UBS Hong Kong Open in December.
McIlroy's performance at the PGA and the European Tour in the current year is also impressive. He displayed amazing performances in most of the tournaments he played in 2012.
In January, he played the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in February. Both are European Tour events staged in UAE. He finished both the events in the top 5.
He tried to implement the change of swing in Abu Dhabi and was happy to see it worked successfully. McIlroy was the runner-up there with a 12-under 276.
"Posture was one of the key things, and just a little bit of swing plane," McIlroy said. "I was setting the club a little steep on the way back, so the club was getting a little bit across the line at the top".
"So Michael and I have been working on me getting more feel, and getting the club pointed a little more left at the top so it's on the right plane. That's basically it," he went on.
After finishing at the runner-up position, he is now more confident about his change. Moreover, when he finished the Dubai Desert Classic at the 5th position, his confidence strengthened.
The Irishman is now positively looking at the Masters, scheduled from April, 5 to 8. The swing change may help the young lad win another major impressively.
