Rory McIlroy keeping it cool before his US Open title defence, threw his first pitch for San Francisco Giants!
Rory McIlroy has been taking things easy before his US Open title defence and was seen pitching at the San Francisco Giants game at the AT&T Park.
San Francisco Giants were hosting Houston Astros as the US Champion threw his first pitch ever to kick off the event.
McIlroy appeared dazed and confused before trying his first pitch at the game. He admitted that he did not practice and he would not want to embarrass himself before the title defence.
“I've been throwing a few golf balls on the course, threw a few medicine balls around last night at the gym. It will be the first experience for me and hopefully I can -- I don't know whether to play it conservatively and just lob it into his hand or go
for the fast one. I'm not sure,” said the former world number one.
The world number 2 is taking things easy before his title defence at the upcoming US Open and wants to relax a bit before the mega event in golf.
He won the St. Jude Classic a few weeks ago, which elaborated on his current form. He is back in his game and the US Open will see a positive and relaxed McIlroy after a long time.
The current world number one Luke Donald has a great deal of pressure to tackle, as his shoulders carry the burden of representing England at the US Open.
Last week, Donald made humorous remarks regarding the Queen of England eyeing Donald as a representative of England in the US Open.
“Hopefully I'm one of her favourites, not sure the Queen will be watching,” said the world number one.
The pressure is a little too much for Donald as his world number one spot is also up at stake. If Donald flunks at the US Open, he would have the entire England against him.
Tiger Woods is also preparing quietly for the US Open, as his win at the Memorial was indeed a sight to remember. He has the support of Jack Nicklaus, who predicted a top spot for Woods in the coming months.
The US Open will be the most exciting event of the golf year as Woods, Donald and McIlroy battle it out for glory.
