Rory McIlroy likely to beat Jack Nicklaus’s record of most major wins
The last time Tiger Woods won a major championship was way back in 2008, when he won the US Open. It was not all easy picking for the fourteen-time major winner because the match went on to the 19th hole where he had a play-off with Rocco Mediate.
Woods has, from then on, been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. He was caught in a s*x scandal which led to the failure of his marriage. It seems as if the American has not been able to get back on the same track since then.
Rory McIlroy, on the other hand, looks like one of the most promising golfers that the world has seen in a while.
It has been speculated by many that McIlroy will go on to beat the record of the highest number of major wins.
The former world number one golfer in the world, Greg Norman was asked about the chances that Woods has of surpassing the record held by Jack Nicklaus.
Norman said, "I don't think so, no".
He continued, "Every year that passes by that he hasn't won a major it just gets that much harder to win a major.
"I don't care how many you have won, it just becomes more and more difficult, he might win one or two more but I don't think he will win the four or five more that he needs to win to break the record".
Norman expressed his confidence in the abilities of the 23-year-old, McIlroy, and said that the youngster has plenty of potential to become the best there is.
Norman said that McIlroy has a balanced personal life and he has a composed attitude on the course which makes him a stable person.
McIlroy is one of the most competent golfers on the European and the PGA Tours. He has recently been nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
With a highly polished overall game, the Northern Irish Golfer, McIlroy, has all the tools to accomplish all that golf has to offer.
With a strong finish to his 2012 season, the 23-year-old is likely to have a decent start in his next season.
