Rory McIlroy looking to be back in form after Lytham
The British Championship Open 2012 comes to an end. Players from all over the world participated in this tournament to fight for the oldest and the most prestigious golf trophy, the Claret Jug.
In the four-day tournament, fans got their money’s worth as the best in the world went head to head.
Of course, there could be only one winner, in this tournament it was Ernie Els. Many players performed extra ordinary in the tournament.
On the contrary, some were not able to live up to their names. The list of players who had a bad tournament also includes the number two in the world golf ranking, Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy had a pretty decent start to the tournament, as he carded a magnificent three-under par on the first day. The other three days were very disappointing for the 23-year-old.
On the second, third and fourth day his score was five-over par, three-over par and three-over par, respectively. These made his score climb up to eight-over par.
He ended the tournament tied on the 60th position with three other players. He was fifteen strokes behind the leader of the tournament, Ernie Els.
This was the worst finish of his career in a Championship. The Northern Irish professional golfer is looking to bounce back from this extremely disappointing performance at Lytham.
McIlroy is still not panicking and is patient. After the tournament in an interview, he said, “I think the thing for me is to stay patient. If it doesn't happen over the next couple of weeks no big deal. It's a 20-year career, so I'm not going to get too
wound up just over a few weeks”.
“I've got to keep working away, plugging away, working on the right things and eventually it will come around,” he added.
McIlroy agreed that everyone goes through struggles in their lives. The only thing that matters is how you deal with that rough patch.
He also talked about the upcoming Ryder Cup, he said, “The thing about the Ryder Cup, I'm going to be left out if I'm not playing too good”.
