Rory McIlroy looks forward to the Masters Tournament
Rory McIlroy, who is playing the Accenture Match Play Championship this week, is keeping all his focus on the Masters Tournament, scheduled from April 5 to 8 at Augusta National Golf Club, Georgia.
The 22-year-old Northern Irish professional is aiming high to win another major this year. He has confirmed his participation in the event.
McIlroy is the shining star of the PGA and the European Tour. He is currently on his career-high performance and delivering his best on most of the golf courses worldwide.
Limited time is left for tee-off at the Masters and all the players are preparing for it. McIlroy is confident and is being regarded as the biggest contender in the field.
His performance this year has been impressive, but not good enough to win a major. He played two events at the European Tour and finished both in the top 5.
He scored well in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and is displaying amazing performance in Arizona this season.
McIlroy was the youngest player to secure a win at the major last year. He had won the title of the US Open tremendously in 2011. He is now determined to win another major, Masters Championship at Augusta Golf Club.
Last year, he lost the Masters in a dramatic fashion. He finished the tournament at the 15th position and was emotionally unstable at the end of the day.
He was at his best till the third round, as he scored 69, 71 and 68. However, on the final day, he unexpectedly lost control over his strokes and scored an 80. Due to such unimpressive performance, he lost his position.
He felt upset, cried on the course and said, "After that I was fine. You've got so many emotions and thoughts going through your head, but after a couple of weeks I realised that it's not going to be my only chance".
After the Masters, he performed extremely well throughout the year and recorded many achievements.
He increased his confidence and now will be returning at Augusta once again, to become the proud winner of the tournament.
McIlroy currently ranks 2nd in the world rankings. There are ample chances for him to claim his debut 1st rank, by displaying some memorable finishes, especially at the majors.
