Rory McIlroy looks to add more trophies to his cabinet
Rory McIlroy has been in hot form recently. He won the PGA Championship, next up, he won the Deutsche Bank Open with a lag of three weeks. The man from Belfast topped the FedEx Cup standings after his victory at TPC Boston.
However, Rory has stated that he is not done yet with the year and he wants more silverware. This is a very positive statement from the world number one. This shows his passion and love for the game and that he wants to be regarded as one of the best.
At the BMW Championship, he is once again paired with Nick Watney and Tiger Woods and he is extremely happy about the way things are going for him.
“I am very pleased with how I have played the last few weeks,” he said. “(I am) very pleased at how hard I worked on my game leading up to these few weeks because I felt like it was nearly there, and it just needed to stay patient”.
Rory McIlroy, just like Tiger, has won three tournaments but in his tally, there is a major as well. Therefore, in that regard he is already ahead of Tiger Woods.
Rory, however, wants to go on and win more titles this year.
“It is rare to see guys having six and seven-win seasons,” he said. “Tiger did it for so many years, three is a great number, I would like to make it four or five, obviously, after the FedEx Cup”.
One good aspect about McIlroy is that he believes in himself. At the Open Championship, he played poorly. People thought that his season was over but he rallied back won a major and now he has won at the playoffs as well.
“You have got total self-belief. You are hitting it at your target, you are hitting it close to the pins. You are seeing every putt go in,” said the Irishman.
Rory still has a few more events to play before the season ends and considering the form he is in, there is a good chance of him winning a few more.
As the Ryder Cup is around the corner, winning a title before the mother of all battles would be very encouraging for Rory.
