Rory McIlroy misses cut for the second time after his claim of being the best, it is not that easy is it?
Rory McIlroy boosted about him being the best in the world last week. This week, the news came in that he misses cut in his second consecutive event.
He has been a little over confident about his position as the World number one. His remarks last week had a hint of pride which cost him this week’s missed cut at the BMW PGA Championship.
“You have to believe that you're the best and I certainly do believe that” said an over confident McIlroy past week.
On the other hand, James Morrison is leading the prestigious event who is ranked 236 in the World ranking. It is a shame that McIlroy is outshined by a man who is ranked so low in comparison with the World number one McIlroy.
The biggest threat to McIlroy’s World number one spot is the very talented Luke Donald. His form is amazing this season and it appears that he would snatch the World number one spot from McIlroy after this season.
Donald has been calm and patient concerning his comparison with McIlroy. He has not spoken a lot about this rivalry yet comments on McIlroy with high notes of appreciation.
He described McIlroy as “the most naturally gifted player there is”.
Donald’s patience and calm personality is the right aspect to achieve greatness. He is likely to take over McIlroy’s rank and position in the coming months.
The World number one blamed the force full winds that accompanied him and his lack of focus for his missed cut. He admitted taking his eyes off the ball numerous times that cost him the tournament.
“I have taken my eye off the ball and did not practice as hard as I might. I have lacked competitive golf after taking a couple of weeks off following the Masters” said McIlroy before leaving the course.
The comments McIlroy gave past week did not give a good feeling about the man that he is. At his position where he is the World’s best golfer, he should avoid such comments regarding his own self. If he continues praising himself and under performs at the
same time, he will end up like Tiger Woods in no time.
