Rory McIlroy moves ahead of Tiger Woods in World Golf Rankings – Golf News
The young Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland once again improved his career rankings. He now holds the 6th place and is ahead of the former world number one, Tiger Woods. This was big achievement for
the youngster, who has been playing well, since Masters.
McIlroy, who has earned a lot of praise for improving his game, now holds the sixth spot in official world golf rankings. This is great news for the youngster, who will be defending his title at the Wells Fargo Championship.
The 21-year-old McIlroy, who will be celebrating his 22nd birthday on May 4, has already achieved so much fame and success in his young career that one can certainly rate him as one of the best professional
players among the upcoming youngsters.
The Irishman showed his form during the Masters as he led the Majors in all the four rounds. He has been in form for quite a while and is hungry for more success in his career. This is the best ranking so far which McIlroy
is holding right now.
McIlroy was more than happy when his ranking was upgraded. He was also happy to be among the top six, as five of them are from Europe. The Irishman joins Lee Westwood of England, Martin Kaymer of Germany, Luke Donald of England,
and his compatriot Graeme McDowell.
Currently in the top six rankings, only Phil Mickelson from USA holds the fourth spot.
Once again, it can be seen that the Europeans are dominating the world rankings. This has happened after a long time. Now, the critics think that the domination of the Americans is over and the Europeans will continue to
occupy the top rankings.
McIlroy won the Wells Fargo Championship last year by a good margin of four shots over his nearest opponent Mickelson. McIlroy had a four-day aggregate score of fifteen-under par, 273.
The left-handed Bubba Watson also improved his world ranking by winning The Zurich Classic yesterday, Sunday. Watson now holds the tenth spot on the official world golf rankings.
The Wells Fargo championship will be an exciting one as McIlroy will eyeing to defend his title successfully and improve his world ranking.
