Rory McIlroy plans to stay in US to follow on his secret love with Caroline Wozniacki
Rory McIlroy’s decision to stay on course despite of his burgeoning injury seems to have backfired as the 22-year-old Irishman finished for a disappointing 11-over in the PGA Championship played at Atlanta Athletic Club.
McIlroy suffered a terrible right wrist injury in the first round of the last major of the season when he tried to hit a shot out of the thick where his ball was locked inside intertwined tree roots. He injured his right elbow and wrist when his club hit
one of the protruding roots.
“I have basically played 70 holes out of 72 not at 100 percent, so it was frustrating not to be able to play the way I wanted to,” said McIlroy. “But I got through the tournament and I was proud of that and I am looking forward just to taking a couple of
weeks off and making sure that I come back fully fit when I'm ready.”
For now, the young Irishman is apparently done with this week’s sporting engagements and is ready to barge on in an attempt to quench his masculine thirst. McIlroy announced that he will be heading to Cincinnati to check out the world famous hunting range,
a reason which is apparently just a smoke screen to fool the media men and paparazzi. World number one in women tennis, Caroline Wozniacki, who is rumoured to be in a relationship with the Irishman, is scheduled to play in the US Open this week.
“I hear it's nice this time of year,” he said with a smile. “I am going to take a couple of weeks off to rest the wrist. I'm going to Cincinnati for a few days, home for the weekend and then go back out to New York.”
McIlroy and Wozniacki have been together for the last two months or so after McIlroy decided to dump his former girl friend Holly Sweeney. The young Irishman was seen hanging out with the Russian Tennis star in high profile London suburbs and has neither
accepted nor denied any rumours about his relationship with the Tennis star.
The young Irishman is a devout fan of Tennis and is also a close friend of Rafael Nadal. He also has a private Tennis court in his backyard where he plays with his father in his laid-off times.
McIlroy recently announced that he will be joining the PGA Tour, taking a U-turn on his previous decision but will not be playing on the circuit any sooner than the WGC Accenture Match Play event in February.
For the moment, the young Irishman will be attempting to be part of the Omega European Masters in Switzerland on Sept. 1-4 and has done everything right so far in the season to reserve a berth in both the events.
