Rory McIlroy ready to win a green jacket in 2013
The 2011 Masters Tournament witnessed Rory McIlroy faltering in the final round to lose a massive four-stroke lead that he held after three rounds. He carded a disappointing 80 on his scorecard, which dragged him way down on the leaderboard.
At that time, it appeared as if he will take a long time before he could put himself in a position to get into contention and record his first major title victory.
To lose from such a strong position after three rounds could have easily damaged him psychologically. However, that did not happen and the Northern Irishman held his nerves tight to secure a victory in the very next major that he played, the 2011 US Open.
He then proved the world that he will be the next man to rule the world of golf, after he secured five professional victories during the 2012 golf season.
He won four PGA Tour events, including a record eight-stroke margin victory at the PGA Championship. Moreover, he also tasted success on the European Tour, as he won the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
Courtesy of his outstanding performances throughout the season, he surged to the top of the Official World Golf Rankings.
He also became the second player in the history of the game, after Luke Donald, to win both the money list titles on the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
In addition to that, he also secured the PGA Player of the Year award and the European Tour Golfer of the Year award.
McIlroy now might be thinking about adding the Green Jacket to his resume, by winning the 2013 Masters Tournament.
According to the golf commentators, the 23-year-old certainly has the potential to achieve that feat, considering the fact that he has improved his game to a great extent in the past one year.
His game from tee to the green is exceptional and is well suited to the Augusta National Golf Club, the venue course for the Masters Tournament.
He may also want to win The Open Championship in 2013. However, it will be difficult for him to play in windy conditions, as he does not possess the ability to flight the ball low.
On the contrary, he do not have to worry about the weather in Augusta. Therefore, he holds strong chances to add another major title to his resume.
