Rory Mcllroy upset with his final day performance at Masters – Masters News
One has to learn from the mistakes committed in past. Rory Mcllroy seemed to have forgotten his past performance in The Open Championship last year and started the final day being the leader at Masters.
It was a complete disaster for him. He didn’t learn from his previous mistakes and continued his charge battling hard for the green jacket against his opponents. Walking on the Augusta National Course being the leader itself is a challenge.
As we say, history repeats itself. This is what happened on the final day with Mcllroy. The youngster just failed to get composure in the final round to win his maiden green jacket.
The way he played during all the three rounds, it looked like he was the man who would also repeat history and win the green jacket. This was certainly not the case. It was a day of disappointment for Mcllroy who simply failed to capitalise on his four shot
lead starting the final round.
The 21-year-old was the longest driver in the three rounds. His driving accuracy was amazing and as well as putting on the fast greens. Although it was hard to read the greens, Mcllroy still managed to put up a great show in all the three rounds.
It was the memory of his second round at The Open, last year, which was pinching in his mind. This happened again with him on the final day. He had a bogey on his very first hole and then had to putt from eight feet to save a par on the second hole. It looked
like he was nervous while hitting his shots.
He managed to recover from his drop shot by making a birdie on the third hole. Once again the crowd cheered for the youngster which gave him more confidence. It was the 7th, par-4 where he rolled a 15-feet long putt for another birdie on his card.
After completing his first nine-holes, he had a one shot lead over the field. No one knew that Mcllroy would lose him temperament starting the back-nine.
His misery all started from the par-4, 10th which is a long hole. His drive went left of the fairway which ended up in rough. He had to just take it out from there and was left with a long third shot. The third shot was again wayward which landed
on the left side of the green. From thereon, he even failed to manage to make it to the green and made a triple-bogey.
It appeared as if lightning had struck Rory.

In the clubhouse, Mcllroy said, “I’m very disappointed. I was leading this golf tournament with nine holes to go, and I just unravelled. Hit a bad tee shot on 10, and then never really recovered. It's going to be hard to take for a few days, but I'll get over
it.”

Rory’s final score card clearly shows that he was not comfortable playing on the final day. Having a final day score of eight-under par, 80, things would not have been worse for him.
This would have been a great victory for Rory, who came so close, but failed to wear the green jacket.
