Rory McIlroy believes that Adam Scott will bounce back
When Adam Scott missed the putt for the par on the eighteenth hole at Royal Lytham, he fell on his knees, feeling dejected. It was so close for the Australian yet so far, he had played flawless golf throughout the tournament until the last few holes.
He would not have imagined that golf could be this cruel but in sports such things happen. What differentiates great with the greatest is the ability of a player to bounce back after a major setback.
The moment Adam finished his last round at the Open, he received a text from his buddy Rory McIlroy, and he had words of inspiration for the Australian.
Rory himself suffered the same fate at the Masters but he gathered himself up and went on to win the US Open next month.
Adam Scott will be looking to follow the footsteps of his friend by winning the PGA Championship at Kiawah Islands. Adam has the chance to heal the wounds of his Open debacle and Rory believes that he can certainly do it.
Adam is happy for the fact he is a golfer and he has a chance just within a month to fulfil his dreams.
“I cannot imagine how tough it must be to take for our Olympians who have not fulfilled their dreams after working so hard,” Scott told Telegraph Sport.
“After Lytham, I knew I would be back at a major the next month. In London, those poor guys have to think all the way ahead to 2016”.
Adam was very thankful to Rory and he said that the Irishman showed him the way forward. Scott knows if he plays as well as he did at Lytham, he will be in contention at the PGA Championship but he would just have to control his nerves a little bit.
The best way to heal the scars is an instant redemption, and Adam has the best chance to heal his scars of the Open Championships at Ocean Course in Kiawah.
Rory McIlroy showed it last year and his good friend Adam Scott can do it to this year at the year ending major in South Carolina.
