Rory Sabbatini faces suspension for misbehaving with Sean O’Hair – Golf news
Rory Sabbatini might be suspended from playing on the Professional Golfers Association Tour for misbehaving with Sean O’Hair during the Zurich Classic in New Orleans.
The winner of Honda Classic is on the brink of being suspended from the Tour, owing to the arguments he made during the Zurich Classic. The South African was reported to use offensive language with O’Hair, who adhered to all the rules and regulations of
the Tour during the altercation.
As a result of the intense argument, the duo lost its focus on the game and missed the cut.
However, Sabbatini will face the charges as he was the one who started using abusive language in the first place according to several media reports. According to the officials of the PGA Tour, this is not the first incident for the South African. Sabbatini
was involved in a similar situation few weeks back at the Riviera Golf Club, when he spoke rudely with a volunteer who was trying to help him find the lost ball.
Because of these two incidents, the PGA Tour has decided to take a disciplinary action against the golfer. He will be suspended from the Tour after an appeal period of two weeks in which he will have to appear in front of a disciplinary committee and explain
the violation of rules.
If the committee decides to suspend the player, he will lose the card of playing on the PGA Tour. The suspension period will start from the Wells Fargo Championship, which is scheduled to begin this week and will continue for three weeks. This means that
the player will not appear in the Players Championship, which is the fifth flagship event on the Tour, the Crowne Plaza Invitational and Byron Nelson Championship.
In the aftermath of the punishment, Sabbatini will not seek exemption from the US Open, which is due to begin in the third week of June 2011. Since the US Open involves top 50 players of the world, Sabbatini being the 60th overall will miss the
cut anyway.
