Rory Sabbatini takes up a swing change at a critical time
Rampaging South African Rory Sabbatini is currently undergoing a swing change and many of the critics consider his decision as reckless especially at this time of the year.
The six-time PGA Tour winner who won his latest event last year, the Honda Classic, feels he is almost done with his contemplated swing change and is all set to explore his new capabilities on the next PGA Tour event.
Sabbatini is taking help from the swing guru Rick Smith and is hoping that the proposed changes will churn out better outcome in his future bids.
He said, "Hilton Head was the first week I felt like I was comfortable with the modifications being made. I really felt like I played well. I didn't putt as well as I would like but I felt really good about the changes I had made".
Sabbatini spoke highly of his swing coach Smith who has worked with Phil Mickelson earlier.
He added, "What I like about Rick is that we have a really good understanding of what the other is trying to put emphasis on or explain. I like that he knows where I'm trying to go and what my concerns are, and how to get us there at the right pace”.
Sabbatini is now all set to reinvent his blistering form at this week’s Quail Hollow Championship and the stretch of events which included the Memorial, Byron Nelson and Colonial, have been one of the most successful stretch for the South African.
Keeping in view the recent successes of the South Africans, which includes the Masters champion of 2011 Charl Schwartzel and Branden Grace who has already won three events on his rookie year on the European Tour, grizzled Sabbatini needs exceptional performances
in the coming season to prove himself as the leader of the South African pack.
Sabbatini has not won a major event in his career so far and the 36-year-old is hoping to bag a major title before he turns 40.
His highest finish at a major event came in the year 2007 when he went over to post a runner up finish at the Masters.
