Rory Sidey joins Western Force
Rory Sidey has completed a move to Super 15 side Western Force from the Waratahs.
Sidey played for Newport Gwent Dragons between 2008 and 2009 but moved back to his homeland to enhance his international ambitions. Western Force coach Richard Graham says this is a great move for the
club.
"Rory adds depth to the outside centre position and will compete with Mitch Inman for that spot, but can also play inside centre and wing.
He's a strong defender," said Graham.
Sidey has many skills and qualities that will make him an important player for Western Force. It's important he hits the ground running if he wants to play for his national
side regularly.
Skill and quality
Sidey's biggest asset is his versatility. This has been praised at every club he's played for. Sidey is best in the middle of the pitch but he can be used forward, back
or to the sides. This versatility will be key if Western Force picks up many injuries.
His pace is very fast, which makes him an important player in the middle. He attracts defenders because of his pace and this creates gaps for other players to exploit.
His speed also allows him to dodge some heavy tackles from big players trying to bring him down.
His short passing and kicking game is world class. His short passing allows the ball to be moved quickly and the pressure on the defence eased. His kicking means his side
can gain territory within a few seconds. This is a part of his game that will get him some attention from the Australian selectors.
"He has
a good understanding of the game and a really competitive nature that will be welcome in our environment.
Rory is a quality bloke and he'll fit well into the group," added Graham.
Betting advice
Western Force is lingering near the bottom of the Super 15 table in 13th place. This signing can provide everyone at the club with a boost. Back Sidey to score in any match
he features in over the next one or two weeks.
