Rosa Khutor resort passes Sochi 2014 Olympic Games test event
The first test event for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games has been termed as a success after there were no major complaints received by the skiers who performed at the Rosa Khutor resort at the Caucus mountains.
The mountain resort of Russia recently played host to the World Cup of skiing that also was utilised as a test event for the Sochi 2014 Games. The tournament featured several of the notable skiers among whom the prominent names were that of the Olympic champions
Bode Miller and Aksel Lund Svindal.
Miller has earned himself the honour of bagging three medals at the Vancouver Olympics that took place in the year 2010. On the other hand, Svindal also has the credit of securing three Olympic medals in Vancouver 2010 one of which was the super-G gold.
Miller appreciated the venue in the following manner, “It's world class, it's as nice as any place we ever go.”
Svindel added, “I like going to different places and I really like it here.”
After the staging of the World Cup, the problems that have been highlighted about the venue are of a minor nature that will not take long to be fixed. One such complaint that had been recurring among most of the skiers that ran the course was that it contained
several turns. The presence of a large amount of turns does not make the track as downhill as it should be for the Olympic event. The complaint has been duly noted by the International Ski Federation.
Apart from these minor changes, the Alpine resort is complete for the purposes of staging the Sochi 2014 Olympic event. However, there are Olympic sites for the 2014 Games that are behind their construction schedule.
The coming of the Olympic Games is having positive effects on the valley of Rosa Khutor as it is slowly transforming into a tourist friendly region with the development of hotels and resorts taking place. As of now, two hotels have been constructed so far.
