Rosario Maddaloni faces an early exit from Men’s Singles event - Iceland International Update
Men’s Singles expert Rosario Maddaloni failed to live up to his billing and bid farewell to Iceland International after losing a pre quarter-final match on Friday, November 9, 2012.
He was one of the front runners in this tournament but the Korean player Jong Woo Yim put his expedition to a halt.
Though, Rosario put an honest effort in this encounter but he had to surrender after scoreboard flashed final figures of 15-21 and 10-21.
This 33-minute tussle took place in local badminton complex of Reykjavik and both contenders kept the audience glued to their chairs until the final moments.
The battle heated up immediately in the beginning as both shuttlers employed all of their brilliance to gain an early advantage in the game.
Initially, the Italian campaigner took a great start and bagged a couple of vital points but he could not go with the same flow in the next couple of rallies and allowed his challenger to counter-balance the situation.
Rosario Maddaloni kept on making fatal mistakes and let many valuable points slip from his hands. This failure ultimately led him to a severe blow.
Meanwhile, Jong Woo showed commendable consistency in his performance and wrapped this segment of the showdown in a favourable manner.
At first, he levelled the score just before the interval and then established a decent lead immediately after the one-minute break.
The lower ranked but talented Korean shuttler showed elevated craft and swept the table with a six-point difference in 21-15.
Next game also was a sheer disappointment for Rosario Maddaloni as this time he was even more pathetic in his approach.
He looked confused right from the first stroke and this bad patch continued until last shot was played.
The third seeded Italian shuttler lost grip over the game when he got down in the establishing rallies and failed to rise on his toes all the way to game point situation.
On the other hand, Jong Woo played flawless badminton and locked the honour with an impressive lead of eleven points.
He finished the first half of the set with figure of 11 and then sent Rosario Maddaloni packing by putting a winning margin of 21-10.
