Rosario Maddaloni topples Misha Zilberman in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at Peru International
Italy’s Rosario Maddaloni advanced into Men’s Singles quarter-final after toppling Misha Zilberman of Israel in the round-of-16 encounter at XVII Peru International 2012 on Thursday, April 12, in Peru.
The un-seeded Rosario showed his aggressive skills and defeated his higher ranked opponent in a stunning fashion.
Rosario was impressive when he played to his full speed and took the bird early from all areas of the court and remained successful in taking the bird quite early from all areas. He won the contest in straight games by consuming 39 minutes.
The higher ranked Zilberman, who was seeded sixth in Men’s Singles main draw of Peru International, could not escape defeat from the hands of a lower ranked Italian opponent and crashed out without creating a strong impact.
In the first set, Rosario was the one who dominated the pace of rallies by working fast in all areas of the court. He executed powerful strokes in right areas of his challenger’s court and did not spare any chance to build a good lead.
However, the higher ranked Zilberman also played well in all areas and remained close to his lower ranked rival.
Until the one-minute interval, both shuttlers could not set up lead the score was quite close on the board.
After the break, Rosario remained positive in the court as he played with precision and managed to maintain pressure on his higher ranked opponent.
He remained fully focused in the game and executed strokes without making unforced errors. He bagged the first game by showing impressive play by a decent 21-18 score on the board.
In the second set, Zilberman failed to dominate the pace in starting points as he could not cope up with the attacking play of his lower ranked challenger.
On the other hand, Rosario was fully focused in the court and he did not spare any chance to maintain his upper hand in the contest. Until the break, the Italian was miles ahead on the board.
After the break, he continued his amazing performance and did not take much time in winning the second set with a superb 21-13 score on the board.
Rosario won this round-of-16 contest in 39 minutes with a remarkable difference of 21-18 and 21-13.
