Roscommon’s Frenchpark (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race, a great opportunity for Klepht
With tongue strap, Klepht is geared up to prove himself a tough nut to crack in the Frenchpark (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race, taking place at Roscommon on Monday, September 03, 2012.
The 7-year-old looked quite decent on his both outings this season. After staying out of action for more than two years, the son of Great Palm restarted his campaign on a high note, when securing the second place in mid July.
In the hands of Mr P. W. Mullins, the 2-1 chance showed wonderful progress after a not-so-impressive start. He led briefly, and was caught in the final 50 yards. As a result, Thomas Mullins’ trainee missed the first place by half a length.
The runner-up place was not a stroke of luck, as he kept performing well. Owned by Ms A. Scanlon, the bay gelding was third in the Killarney Welcomes Bordeaux Racecourse INH Flat Race last week. Although the Hugh O'Connor-bred was unable to trouble the leading
pair, he did well to outsmart the 9-4 favourite, Jolly Mac Vic.
After two solid efforts, Klepht seems to be an obvious contender for the top rank today. Majority of his rivals are currently struggling for form, thus he should not face much trouble in doing the trick.
Stamina is going to be the key, as the race will be held over a long distance of two miles. Thirteen horses have entered the race in search of a cash prize worth €4,830. The going is good to yielding for the big meeting, which will get started at 19:35 GMT.
Cloch Anna showed an excellent effort in July, but lost momentum thereafter. The 5-year-old mare, trained by John Neilan, was sixth behind Annie Power in the Ladbrokes ''Like Our Facebook Page'' INH Flat Race at the start of last month.
Paddy Stanley is an interesting candidate. The 5-year-old is making his seasonal debut after a long rest. But we are unsure whether he will be able to avoid the embarrassment that he faced on his debut in November last year.
The stats suggest that Klepht is facing a weak opposition. So, it is an ideal chance for him to get off the mark. Good luck to all the runners.
