Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has offered his support for Danny Rose after the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 u-21 suffered racial abuse in the game against Serbia.
Rose, who is currently on loan at Sunderland, was the target of racial slurs and abuse from the Serbian supporters during the heated and controversial under-21 encounter.
The player looked clearly troubled and helpless as he endured a nightmare evening in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Serbia-c3002. England had secured under-21 qualification for Euro 2013 on the night thanks to a later Connor Wickham goal.
The goal immediately sparked off trouble on the pitch. England’s win was overshadowed by the alleged racial chants by the Serbian supporters, most of which were directed towards Rose.
The player revealed his anger and frustration after the game as he kicked the ball towards the stands, which resulted in his second booking of the night, and ultimately a sending off. Rose made gestures with his hands as a response to the abuse he suffered
as he left the field, which further aggravated the already heated situation.
On his way out, Rose was confronted by Serbian players. Some of them had tried to comfort him while others were hostile. This led to a brawl on the pitch between the English and Serbian players and the respective management staff. It was all very disappointing
to see, and really smeared England’s win on the night.
Rose spoke about his anger after the game, and insisted that the Serbian Football Association be punished by UEFA. Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas revealed yesterday that he had spoken to Rose over the phone and offered him his full support.
He said: "It's extremely difficult for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193. He was disappointed by the situation which he had to live with, the atmosphere he was confronted with.”
"I told http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 I support him completely in this situation. He felt abused and this is obviously a serious matter which at the moment is in the hands of both FAs."
“We have spoken so much about this kind of situation, it's almost like it hasn't put a break into the amount of events that we have to deal with on a weekly basis, which is, in the end, very, very sad," Villas-Boas added.
