ok i need help i know that you chop off stems off the roses but when u get the rose pollinated do you cut off the hip and plant it or do you cut off the hole stem?

  1. The rose hip contains many seeds. Harvest the mature hips  (they will be colorful when ripe) and allow the pod to dry at room temperature a few days. Cut the hip open and pull out the seeds. The seeds will need to be stored in the cold before they will germinate.

    The problem with growing from a hip is you do not know the pollen parent. This can produce some interesting results but nothing like the plant the hip came from when dealing with hybrids. If you want another plant like the one you have take a cutting from a stem and root it.
