Roseau wins 4th stage and Guillaume wraps up overall lead in 2011 International Tour de Martinique
Selection Martinique team’s Willy Roseau won the fourth stage of 2011 International Tour de Martinique on Tuesday, July 12. Guillaume Malle took the overall leader’s jersey.
The race started in Trinite and ended in Macoube. The 23-year-old French cyclist took a total of 2 hours, 33 minutes and 40 seconds to cover the distance of 90 kilometres.
Previously, Willy won the second stage of International Tour de Martinique 2011. He also took an overall lead in this race in 2008.
Boris Carene of Selection Guadeloupe was the runner-up. Jose Alexender Roa Guerrero of CESMA finished third with a difference of 4 seconds.
Cédric Eustache (Sélection Martinique), Marc Flavien (Sélection Martinique) and Sébastien Fournet Fayard (Veranda Rideau Sarthe) were in fourth, fifth and sixth places, respectively.
Kazuo Inoue (Team Bridgestone Anchor) was in good form and tried to take a lead, but he failed to maintain his pace and grabbed the tenth place with a difference of 3 minutes and 15 seconds ahead of Romain Cardis (Veranda Rideau Anchor) and Christopher Hippolyte
(Arc En Ciel Club Cycliste).
A group of five cyclists made their first breakaway including, Willy Roaseau, Boris Carene, Jose Alexender, Cedric Eustache and Marc Flavien. All of them worked together for a lead while Marc Flavien and Cedric Eustache launched the attack, but both of them
failed and Willy managed to take the advantage and crossed the finish line ahead of other cyclists.
Cedric Eustache took the overall King of Mountain title with 84 points, while Jose Alexender Roa was in the second place with 47 points. Guilaume Malle was in third place with 40 points ahead of Willy.
Guillaume Malle (Veranda Rideau Sarthe) took the overall lead with a timing of 13 hours, 36 minutes and 36 seconds. Marc Flavien was the runner-up with 3 minutes and 15 seconds behind Malle.
Aurelien Louvel His finished third with a difference of 3 minutes and 23 seconds.
The next stage will start in Macouba and end in Sainte Marie. All the riders will cover the distance of 105 kilometres.
