The Barcelona supremo reminisced about the good times La Blaugrana enjoyed two decades ago which set the foundations to their current dominance in European football.

The Dutch maestro added three successive La Liga title with his ‘Dream Team’ but it was their success in the 1991/92 European Cup that was the epitome of their efforts.
Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, took out time to reminisce about the club’s achievements that jumpstarted their glorious era in European and Spanish football.
Rosell wrote a letter that was addressed to Les Cules on Barcelona’s official website and took the supporters down the memory lane to cherish their heroes of the past.
“Today is a day worth remembering, it is a day that’s written in golden letters in our history. Today marks the 20-year anniversary of the Club’s first European Cup title won on May 20, 1992. That day marked the beginning of a journey that, in present day, has turned into the most glorious era in the Club’s nearly 113-year existence.”
The former marketing executive praised the players who lived up to the requirements of the Blaugrana jersey and highlighted the efforts of Hristo Stoichkov, Jose Bakero and Ronald Koeman.
Players of the winning squad were not the only individuals to be honoured by Rosell, as he took out time to praise the efforts of the board of Josep Lluis Nunez that made everything possible for their undying support to the club.
Continuing in his praise for the precedents set by his predecessors, Rosell claimed that fans have to understand that the success enjoyed by Barcelona has not happened in isolation but has taken years to bear fruition.
He stated that the team Pep Guardiola was part of enjoyed honours and transcended them for future generations.
Rosell added that the Catalan footballing philosophy that is praised and imitated the world over had its humble beginnings in that era which reached its pinnacle when they lifted the prestigious trophy on May 20, 1992.
