Roses Rockin wins The Coral Coronation Cup-2nd Semi Final at Romford
Roses Rockin, a black dog trained by D D Knight, stood victorious in the 2nd Semi Final race of The Coral Coronation Cup at Romford, on 13 January, 2012.
He clinched the semi-finals' victory from five other opponents, All On Board, Hugo You Go, Razldazl Monroe, Rockburst Lenny and Risky Rosaleen. It was a 575m category Open Race (Grade OR).
As the most favourite hound, with a starting price of 11/10, Roses Rockin broke from trap 1, and right away he showed some early pace that enabled him to take the lead.
He persisted with his pace throughout the race, and turned in a gate to wire the win, which was easy on the eyes.
With a reasonable margin of 2 ¾ lengths, the dog took 35.71 seconds to bridge the distance. He won for the fifth time in his career which commenced in August, 2011. The son of Droopys Vieri was whelped in August 2009.
All On Board achieved the second position in the all important race. Breaking from trap 2, the brindle dog finished in 35.93 seconds, as he trailed the winner by 2 ¾ lengths.
The son of Westmead Hawk demonstrated a smooth run throughout the race. He neither baulked, nor bumped, even for a single moment.
The trainee of C J Houlding tried to challenge Roses Rockin on some occasions, but failed to outrun him. Making his debut in March 2011, the dog got this position for the 2nd time in 575m category.
The hound who finished third in the race was Hugo You Go, who lagged with a slight difference of 0.1 seconds.
The black dog broke from trap 5, and consumed 35.94 seconds to reach the finish line. In the beginning, he showed some real pace, but failed to carry his momentum forward. Most of the time, he ran parallel to All On Board.
Whelped in April 2009, the dog started his career in September 2010, trained by P.J. Simmonds.
At the end of the race, the 1st cash prize worth £175 went to Roses Rockin, while each of the other five hounds walked away with £30.
