I have a fabulous rose bush in the garden that is heaving with huge buds that never open.....they rot before they flower. Can anything be done and what could be the cause? This happens every year...

  1. Try having a look here, http://www.sactorose.org/rosebug/irosepe... click on the ones you think may apply and it'll take you to images of that problem, once you know the problem you can easily find the solution, but if you are still having problems try http://www.ubcbotanicalgarden.org/forums... they have a fantastic site with masses of info on the forums listed by plant type, good luck

  2. I'm guessing that it needs a good prune this Autumn, if you have too many buds it's not going to have enough Oommph to have them all blossom, also if it is a shady or damp spot then you are going to get fungus and rot...

  3. Could be the site is too shady,

    Too wet,(Heavy rainfall).

    Exposed,(Windy).

    Poor soil,buds form but undernourished

Solutions for 1-3,move the bush to a more suitable site.4.Feed with Toprose,or other specific fertilizer and mulch.

Gaurd against insect attack with a systemic spray.

  4. roses need to be pruned and sprayed with insecticides or chemicals to stop certain insects or bugs from attacking your roses. If you could do biological control that would be best.
