Which software program is better at learning a language?

I hear great things about Rosetta Stone but one person said Tell me more goes more in depth and I found it cheaper.

Can I buy any of the two in stores?

  1. Please don't waste your money on those language programmes. Although they are good for starting out, it is limited. I would recommend, like i do with anyone wanting to learn a language, to join cultural clubs in your desired language. You could even see if there are any shops owned by speakers of that language. Try and be immersed in the language as much as possible, find podcasts of the language, read your dictionary and try to memorize as much as possible. So yeah, i think language programmes are good for a start but it can cost more than its worth

  2. i've never heard of tell me more

but rosetta stone doesn't teach grammar, it's purely a 'learn this language like you would if you were dumped in the particular country' technique.  it does help a LOT for forming sentences, but it doesn't teach grammar.

    I like it a lot.
