Rosetta stone except cheaper? help!?

i really want to learn to speak italian because within the next year im planning on a trip to italy and want to learn as much as i can in this short period, but my only problem is that i dont have $500 to shell out for the rosetta stone italian levels 1-3, so i was wondering if anyone knew of any language learning software like the rosetta stone, except cheaper??

check e-bay for a used version....good as new

Consider Pimsleur as well.  Also expensive, but should be able to find on eBay.
