Portugal took on the Czech Republic in the quarter finals, with everything to play for in the game. However, following a thrilling encounter between the two sides, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 went on to score the only goal of the game, as he helped his side get past the Czech’s and into the semi finals.
Despite losing the game and crashing out of the competition, Rosicky doesn’t have any bad blood with the Portuguese, as he feels they showed enough skill, form and class on the pitch to pick up the win from the game.
When talking about the match, the midfielder went on to state: “I think Portugal deserved to get through, they were the better team so I’d like to say well done to them because it was fair on them”
“Our first half was quite solid, I’d say, but the biggest problem in the second was that we couldn't keep the ball and were under enormous pressure because of that. So as I said, well done to Portugal.”
However Rosicky then went on to admit that his team were confident that they would make it to the knockout stages, despite suffering a very disappointing loss to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 in their opening game of the tournament.
“Our goal was to come from the group and try our best in the next round, which is what we did,” he added.
“I think we can go home with our heads held high. We lost against a better team and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.”
Following the crashing out of the Czech’s, Rosicky has gone on to admit that he is now contemplating international retirement. The player suffered an Achilles injury, which seems to still exist but on a much smaller scale.
It is not certain how fit he is at the moment, but should his injury prevail or prove to be a recurring one, then he could potentially end up calling it quits on both his club and international career.
