Rosman Razak to coach Women’s Doubles teams of Malaysia – Badminton Update
Men’s Doubles coach of Malaysia, Rosman Razak has been given a new assignment by Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and now he will be watching the progress of Women’s Doubles teams from May 1, 2012.
Rosman will also be working as Mixed Doubles head coach with Jeremy Gan assisting him in this new venture.
BAM had to take this step as Rexy Mainaky resigned from these posts after serving for seven years and decided to work as national coaching director with Philippine Badminton Association.
Pang Cheh Chang was another option for this post but BAM preferred Rosman considering his experience and brilliance.
Chairman of coaching and training committee (CTC) Ng Chin Chai briefed that Rosman was selected on the basis of his valuable coaching experience and skills. He told that his job will be to help female Doubles experts specially.
Chin Chai said, "We chose Rosman based on his seniority and ability. He has served with the national team for long time and has worked with the players before. He will specifically guide the women's doubles while Jeremy Gan will continue coaching the mixed
doubles."
Rosman has trained national female players in the past and this can help him to supervise them in the nets. He will be working as chief coach until the end of this year as Chairman CTC clearly declared that national body has decided to stick with local coaches
in near future.
Moreover, Chin Chai also unveiled the responsibilities of other coaches Jeremy Gan and Pang Cheh Chang as he told that former will help the duo Peng Soon-Liu Ying in their quest for Olympic medal while the later will supervise the Olympic preparation of
male duo Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong.
He said, “Pang is helping out with the men’s doubles to prepare for the Olympics. Jeremy also has a specific job to handle Peng Soon-Liu Ying, who have a realistic chance to win a medal at the Games.”
Meanwhile, the coaching and training committee also decided to organise a training camp for Thomas Cup and announced to send national campaigners to China well before the event.
The committee also declared that local players like Soong Fie Choo, Tan Chee Tean, Amelia Anscelly and Goh Jian Hao will be given chance to make to the national squad after proving their point in selection trials.
