Rosman Razak wants to become doubles coach at Bukit Jalil Sports School – Badminton news
Malaysia’s doubles coach Rosman Razak wants to become coach at the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS), as there are enough coaches in the doubles squad of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
He requested for the permission of BAM to train doubles shuttlers at BJSS. The governing body have recently hired a Korean coach Yoo Yong Sung to improve the quality of the elite shuttlers.
Rosman thinks that there is no need of more coaches in the doubles squad as there are already five coaches working in the squad including Rexy Mainaky, Pang Cheh Chang, Jeremy Gan, Chong Kien Ling and Yong Sung. All these coaches are working under the supervision of the doubles’ head coach Tan Kim Her.
Rosman said, “I think there are enough coaches in the doubles department and I have requested to be designated as a coach at the BJSS.”
He has been serving BAM for the last nine years since 2002. During this long period with the national set up, he has learnt a lot and can now contribute the nation by preparing young shuttlers at BJSS.
He said, “I have learnt a lot as a coach with the national team and I can contribute to the young doubles shuttlers in the school.”
Rosman has also an experience of working with the Men’s Doubles top seeds of Malaysia and currently World Number Five pair of Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat. He has been associated closely with all shuttlers in the national coaching set up and has learnt different techniques, which he wants to apply on younger players at BJSS.
The coach trained Zaim Abdul Khalid and Vountus Indra Mawan, the young pair of Men’s Doubles, who delivered wonderful performance in the 2011 Malaysia Open GP Gold when they defeated the reigning Olympic gold medallists, Hendra Setiawan and Markis Kido of Indonesia.
Ng Chin Chai, the secretary of BAM, expressed that the request of Rosman will be put into discussion in the exco meeting and the decision will be taken accordingly.
